Australia's Top Theme Parks Apps on Android in Q4 2020: A Performance Overview

Australia's Theme Park Apps Ride Trends in Downloads and Activity

As theme parks adapted to the new normal in 2020, their digital extensions became more important than ever. Sensor Tower provides us with a snapshot of how the top theme park apps fared on Android devices in Australia during the fourth quarter of 2020.

Starting with Village Roadshow Theme Parks, the app experienced a rollercoaster trend in downloads, starting at approximately 4.9K in the last week of September, dipping to around 1.4K in late October, and then climbing back to peak at approximately 7K downloads in the final week of December. Without any revenue generated, the focus remained on the download figures and user engagement.

SeaWorld had a modest performance with downloads fluctuating under 100 throughout the quarter. The app saw a slight increase in weekly active users from 10 in late November to 90 by the end of December.

The Disneyland® app, while also not generating revenue, maintained a steady base of weekly active users, hovering around 70-100 throughout the quarter. Download numbers were minimal, with only a few recorded each week.

The Tokyo Disney Resort App saw very limited activity with only a handful of downloads reported in October and no data on weekly active users available.

Lastly, My Disney Experience maintained a consistent range of weekly active users, staying between 99 and 156 throughout the quarter. Similar to other apps in this category, it did not generate revenue during this period.

These insights, provided by Sensor Tower, highlight the varying degrees of user interest and engagement with theme park apps in Australia during a challenging period for the industry.
